Breast Lift

As we age, genetics and gravity may begin to take a toll on our outward appearance, and for women, the breasts may begin to sag or lose their firmness. As a mother and a plastic surgeon, Dr. Clark understands that most women’s breasts will change significantly with pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you want to restore the uplifted, firmer breasts of your youth, you may benefit from a breast lift at her Sacramento, CA practice. Is Breast Lift for You?

A breast lift can provide several benefits including:

  • Lifting the breasts to a more youthful position
  • Creating a symmetrical breast shape
  • Creating a firmer, rounder breast appearance
  • Reducing the size of large areolas

A breast lift can help women restore their breasts to a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. This procedure can also be combined with other procedures, like a breast augmentation for a Mommy Makeover, which can provide optimal body and breast contouring. When you meet with Dr. Clark for your Sacramento breast lift consultation, she will help determine which procedures can help you achieve the look you want.

Breast Lift Explained

In general, a breast lift takes between 2 and 4 hours to perform. To begin the procedure, Dr. Clark creates incisions around the areola and down the underside of the breast to the breast fold. In some cases, a third incision is added along the breast fold for additional remodeling. Dr. Clark will discuss incision patterns with you prior to your surgery, and will work with you to determine the best approach.

Through these incisions, she lifts and reshapes the tissue, and any excess skin is removed in order to provide a firmer, “perkier” appearance. Although the areola and nipple are repositioned, they are never detached from their nerves and blood supply, so sensation and function should be preserved.

Recovery and Results

Immediately after your procedure, Dr. Clark will place bandages around the breasts in order to help maintain their new shape. Follow up appointments will be scheduled within a few days of surgery for the removal of dressings and sutures. Most patients are able to return to their daily routines within about 2 weeks of their procedure, with a more gradual build up to exercise and more strenuous activities.
