Breast Reduction

Women with overly large breasts often experience self-consciousness, discomfort, and unwanted attention as a result of being top-heavy. Often, heavy, pendulous breasts prevent women from enjoying many physical activities such as running or aerobics. As a woman, Dr. Christa Clark understands the emphasis many women place on the size, shape, and overall appearance of their breasts. With a breast reduction, Sacramento, CA women can have smaller, “perkier” breasts that are more in proportion with the rest of the body.

Dr. Clark takes the time to get to know you in order to understand your lifestyle and your needs. She is committed to helping you achieve a result you will love. Contact us for more information about Dr. Clark or the procedures she offers.

Is Breast Reduction for You?

While a breast reduction procedure varies from patient to patient, the general purpose is to reduce the breasts to a size that is in balance with the rest of your body. By doing so, each breast reduction procedure produces a degree of breast lifting. In addition, a breast reduction can also:

  • Improve body image
  • Create proportionate body contours
  • Create smaller, firmer breasts
  • Alleviate back, neck and shoulder pain from overly large breasts
  • Increase self-confidence

When you meet with Sacramento breast reduction surgeon Dr. Clark, she will help determine if you are a candidate for the procedure. As a woman and a highly skilled breast surgeon, Dr. Clark understands how profoundly this surgery can affect women. Breast reduction patients are typically among the most satisfied of plastic surgery patients, because the benefits are both physical and emotional.

Breast Reduction Explained

Your breast reduction procedure will begin with Dr. Clark creating an incision around the areola, then down the underside of the breast. In some cases, a third incision is made in the natural breast crease, forming an anchor or inverted “T” pattern. Through these incisions, the excess breast tissue, skin, and fat is removed, all the while keeping the nipple/areola complex attached and intact.

The breasts and nipples are reshaped and repositioned to a more youthful appearance, then sutured and bandaged. Generally, this procedure takes about 2 to 4 hours to perform.

Recovery and Results

After a breast reduction, most women are able to return to their daily routines within a 2 weeks following surgery, with more rigorous activity after approximately 6 weeks. Depending on your goals, a breast reduction can be combined with other plastic surgery procedures, including the Mommy Makeover for a more comprehensive body rejuvenation.
